Skin Cancer Facts – from the Australian Cancer Council

There are three main types of skin cancer:

  • Basal cell carcinoma

  • Squamous cell carcinoma

  • Melanoma

Non- melanoma skin cancer (both basal and squamous cell carcinomas) is more common in men, with almost double the occurrence as compared to women.

Changes in your skin - what to look for:

  • Crusty or non-healing sores

  • Small lumps that are red, pale or pearly in colour

  • New spots or freckles

  • Moles changing in colour, thickness or shape over a period of weeks or months
