Acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment for anxiety, depression and stress. Recent studies show that a series of regular acupuncture sessions can significantly decrease anxiety levels. This is done by calming the nervous system down, and preventing the release of stress hormones.
There has also been significant research into the biochemical effects acupuncture has on the body. Studies indicate an increase in the synthesis and release of neurotransmitters and hormones that are important for maintaining balance within the body and mind such as serotonin and oxytocin.
Did you know that if you are on a mental health plan you are entitled to a series of 15 acupuncture sessions at a reduced rate of $60 per hour session?
If you are on a Mental Health Plan then you will be eligible for 10 sessions of acupuncture at a reduced rate of $60 per session. If you are unsure if you are on a mental health plan please call us.

How many sessions will I need?
The amount of sessions required is different for everyone. A normal course of treatment is between 6 – 15 treatments.
Will it hurt?
Generally acupuncture is pain free. Most people feel a slight tingling or dull heavy sensation. If you are sensitive, you may experience a very slight initial sting that lasts for a quarter of a second and then goes away.
Acupuncture is relaxing for most people and it's common to feel a little bit tired for half an hour or so after a session. Slight bruising or itchiness at the site of the needle can occasionally occur.
Because acupuncture works on the whole body, it is common to notice other improvements in your health such as improved sleep, digestion and energy levels.
